Cycling gift ideas…

Happy holidays from your Sherpa here on the Trail!

Quite a few of you have emailed asking for gift ideas for the cyclists in your lives, so I wanted to stir your imagination just a little bit with a few setups we have done at the shop.

Check out this 2011 Specialized Roubiax SL3 setup. This client is a longer distance cyclist who wanted to keep more detailed records of his treks and monitor his fitness levels. This SL3 is the best endurance bike on the planet. (Just ask Fabian Cancellara who won Paris-Roubiax in 2010 on his!) It’s also outfitted with that sweet Garmin 705! All he needs now is to get on and pedal! The Garmin 705 GPS Bike Computer can monitor heart rate, cadence, and speed as well as altitude, and GPS mapping AND it is ANT+ ready when you add your Power Tap System. (Makes you want to go ride, right? Drool, drool…)

This client has also outfitted his SL3 with a small hand pump, lights (for when you get caught out after dark) and a flat repair kit in an under seat bag. Those flat kits are soooo important…

Not a road cyclist? Here is a set up with a light weight rear rack and pannier bags. Turn your daily commuter bike into a longer distance exploration machine.

(Don’t forget the water cage and insulated water bottle!)

Triathlete? The Zipp R2C shifters are the coolest things I have seen in years. Weighing only 180 grams per pair, they save weight, time and effort and are Mack Daddy coolio!

Lastly, here is the best gift idea for a cyclist I have seen in a while:

The Allen Sports MT Compact Folding Bike Rack series. Available as a single or double bike rack, it folds down small enough to fit in your glove box!

Check it out:

Folded, in it’s travel bag, you could easily store it in your trunk.

Even though it folds up to a very small package, this rack can handle two full sized bikes easily.

If you have any questions please feel free to drop me an email here, or come visit the us at the shop! www.bikecycleshop.com

So, yes Virginia, there IS a Santa, and he is a cyclist!

Happy Holidays to everyone!
